Which Mac do I have?

Apple menu → "About This Mac". If it says "Chip Apple M1" (or M2, M3, M4), choose Apple Silicon. If it says "Processor Intel", choose Intel.

Windows?

A Windows version has been built and will be released once it is signed — without a signature, Windows would show a warning on launch. Write to us if you need it.

What PixelSlim does

Drag in images or folders, done. PixelSlim re-encodes every JPEG and keeps only what the eye needs.

Noticeably smaller, visibly the same

Camera and Lightroom JPEGs are usually larger than necessary. PixelSlim finds the point at which the image no longer looks different and often saves half the file size.

Metadata is preserved

EXIF, IPTC, XMP, and the color profile are carried over unchanged. Capture date, copyright, and keywords stay right where they are.

Recognizes what is already done

Files that have already been reduced are flagged and skipped on the next pass. A folder can be dragged in any number of times without any loss of quality.

Please read before your first run

  • • PixelSlim replaces the file in place. There is no going back to the larger version — work with copies or exports, never with your only original.
  • • The compression is lossy, even if you can't see it. For large-format printing or as an archive master, the unedited original remains the right choice.
  • • JPEG only. RAW, TIFF, PNG, and HEIC are not touched.
  • • PixelSlim is free for personal and commercial use and is provided without warranty. We accept no liability for damage to files resulting from its use.

Why we give it away

We built PixelSlim for our own gallery: smaller JPEGs upload faster, take up less storage, and reach clients as smaller downloads. But the tool benefits every photographer — so everyone gets it.

Faster uploads

Half the file size, half the wait time — into any gallery, not just ours.

Less storage

More galleries in the same storage plan, less space on your hard drive and backup.

Smaller client downloads

Clients receive exactly the file you upload. Smaller is simply better here.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a CreatorDesk account?

No. Download, open, use. No registration, no license key.

Does macOS prompt me when opening it?

No. PixelSlim is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple. It opens like any other app.

How much does it really save?

It depends on the source material. Lightroom exports at quality 100 typically shrink by about half, while heavily pre-compressed web images barely change. PixelSlim shows how much was saved after each run.

Are there updates?

New versions are published here on this page. The app itself doesn't phone home.
